David Bauer was an American actor.

Biography[]

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Bauer studied at Washington University and after graduating became a stage actor in such productions as A Sound of Hunting, The Iceman Cometh and the non-singing role of Doc in West Side Story. Though American by birth, he performed the majority of his work in Britain.

Though he appeared in such films as The Spy Who Came In From the Cold and two James Bond films (You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever respectively), Bauer was best known for his television work, appearing in Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) and The Avengers amongst others, as well as providing narration for The Champions.

Bauer passed away in 1973.

Singing[]

Bauer sang in a handful of stage musicals in his career, becoming the first actor to play Bill Cracker in an English language production of Happy End, and playing Bellomy, Luisa's father in The Fantasticks.
