Clark Gable was an American actor.
Biography[]
Born William Gable in Cadiz, Ohio, he began working as a stage actor at the age of 21 and later moved to Hollywood where he became an extra in silent films. He went on to appear in such films as Night Nurse and Possessed before his Academy Award winning role in It Happened One Night.
Gable went on to receive subsequent nominations for Mutiny on the Bounty and his best-known role as Rhett Butler in Gone With the Wind, ultimately resulting in his being known as the "King of Hollywood." He would go on to appear in a mixture and romantic and comic productions, making his final appearance in the critically lauded The Misfits.
Gable passed away in 1960.
