Christopher Guard is an English actor.

Biography[]

Born in London, Guard made several films as a child actor, including two Charles Dickens adaptations, before joining the National Theatre.

He made numerous television appearances, including I, Claudius, as well as big-screen roles such as Marius Pontmercy in the 1978 version of Les Miserables.

Singing[]

Guard has twice appeared in roles that required him to sing; as Erich Egerman in A Little Night Music, the film adaptation of Sondheim's stage musical, and as the heroic Frodo Baggins in Ralph Bakshi's animated version of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings (alongside his brother Dominic.)
