Charles Dance is an English actor.

Biography[]

Born Walter Charles Dance in Redditch, Worcestershire, he was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company before appearing on television in such shows as Father Brown and Edward the Seventh as well as making his film debut in 1981 with For Your Eyes Only.

Dance soon gained a reputation for playing villains or ruthless characters, including the hitman Benedict in Last Action Hero, the pragmatic Patrician Havelock Vetinari in Going Postal and Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones.

Singing[]

Dance made a singing appearance onstage in the 1979 revival of Irma La Douce, in which he played Nestor-le-Fripe. He also sang the song "Do I Worry?" in The Jewel in the Crown.
