Celia Imrie is an English actress.

Biography[]

Born in Guildford, Surrey she studied there at the Guildford School of Acting. She began performing in the 1970s, appearing onstage in such productions as Mabeth, Pygmalion and The Merchant of Venice. She also had a number of film roles in films as varied as the Bridget Jones series, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

However Imrie had perhaps her greatest successes on television, appearing on Victoria Wood, Acorn Antiques and Dinnerladies.

Singing[]

Imrie appeared as Miss Babs in the stage production Acorn Antiques: The Musical! (reprising her role from the television series and winning an Olivier Award) and also sang "When I Kissed the Teacher" in Mamma Mia!: Here We Go Again.
