Burt Young is an American actor.

Biography[]

Born Gerald DeLouise in Queens, New York, he served in the United States Marine Corps and studied at the Actors Studio before his feature film debut in 1970. After appearances in such films as The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight and Chinatown, he gained recognition following his appearance as Paulie Pennino in the Rocky series (earning a nomination for Best Supporting Actor), a part he would reprise for five sequels.

Young continued to appear in films including Once Upon a Time in America, Amityville II: The Possession and Convoy as well as such series as 'The Sopranos and Law & Order. Outside of acting, he was a critically well-regarded painter and author of the novel Endings.

Young sang the Marines song "Ain't No Discharge on the Ground" during his role as Nick Chase in Roomies.
