Brian Bedford was an English actor.

Biography[]

Born in Morley, Yorkshire, Bedford studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and appeared in a number of well received stage productions, including playing Ariel in The Tempest, the lead role in Timon of Athens, Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest and a number of plays by Molière. He amassed a total of seven Tony Award nominations, the second greatest number gained by a male actor.

Bedford also made a handful of screen appearances, such as the film Grand Prix and guest roles in Coronet Blue and Frasier. He also notably voiced the title character in Disney's Robin Hood.

Bedford passed away in 2016.

Bedford has two singing credits to his name; lulling the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham to sleep with "Rock-a-bye Sheriff" in Robin Hood, and portraying the benevolent Mr. Fezziwig in A Christmas Carol.
