Barry Dennen was an American actor.
Biography[]
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Dennen initially worked in nightclubs and cabaret, helping his then girlfriend Barbra Streisand become established. He also began working on stage, and soon became established as a musical theatre performer.
In his later career, Dennen began working in television and films more frequently, including Titanic and Shock Treatment. He also worked as a voice actor on several animated series (including Batman: The Animated Series) and video games, such as playing the villainous Vizier in Prince of Persia.
Dennen passed away in 2017.

Dennen is best known for his musical theatre roles, making his first breakthrough role in the original London production of Cabaret playing the Emcee. He subsequently began a longterm connection with Jesus Christ Superstar, playing the role of Pontius Pilate in the original album, stage production and film, as well as playing King Herod in a 2002 revival.
Dennen also appeared in the original cast of Ghetto as Dummy, and in the film of Fiddler on the Roof as Mendel.
