Anton Lesser is an English actor.

Biography[]

Born in Birmingham, Warwickshire, studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and went onto appear with the RSC in productions of Julius Caesar, A Winter's Tale and Richard III amongst others. He also contributed to a number of audiobooks, including Paradise Lost and award winning nomination for Great Expectations.

Lesser made many screen appearances, in films including Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Closer to the Moon and The Exception. He had many more roles on television, most notably as Sir Thomas More in Wolf Hall, Clarence Fendley in The Hour and Chief Superintendent Bright in Endeavour.

Singing[]

As Feste, Lesser sang the song "Come Away Death" in a television production of Twelfth Night in 1984.
