Aldo Ray was an American actor.

Biography[]

Born Aldo Da Re in Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania, Ray served in the United States before making his film debut in Saturday's Hero in-between running for political office. He soon played the lead role in The Marrying Kind and appeared in Pat and Mike, leading to his nomination as Best Newcomer at the Golden Globes.

Ray would go onto appear in such films as Miss Sadie Thompson, Battle Cry (which led to his typecasting as a tough military figure) and What Did You Do in the War, Daddy? He would also guest star in such television series including Love, American Style, Movin' On and even provided the voice of Sullivan in The Secret of NIMH.

Ray passed away in 1991.
